Enjoy Your Summer Vacation in Style

Growing up, my family went on numerous summer vacations. The five of us all usually traveled in my parent’s midsize sedan. While we enjoyed each other’s company for a while, we soon became irritable. We didn’t have nearly enough room in the car to remain comfortable for longer than an hour or two. If you’re planning an upcoming vacation, consider renting a vehicle to travel in. You can ride in style; and, you will have enough room to stretch. On this blog, you will discover the best types of vehicles to rent for large families. Enjoy your vacation ride this year!

Working with a Transportation Brokerage Company

Faith Brown

No matter what kind of freight or cargo you need to move, it is crucial that you find a freight carrier that is reliable and can get the goods where they need to be and on time. Working with a transportation or freight brokerage can simplify the process for you. Here are some tips for working with a transportation brokerage service to get your freight where it needs to be.

Understand How Brokerages Work

A freight or transportation brokerage works with companies and carriers all over the country or the world to organize the transportation of goods and materials. The brokerage finds a truck, train, or ship going where your freight needs to go and sets up the shipment for you.

In some cases, the brokerage will have to move the freight through several transportation services, so understanding the needs of the shipper and having many connections and contacts in the transportation industry is important. A large brokerage can handle a high volume of goods and materials, and often without any delay.

Small Companies and Freight Carriers

Many times, a small company will not have the resources to move large amounts of freight, but working with a brokerage to get your goods moved can still offer some benefits. For truck shipments, the carrier receives the load from the brokerage after you request it. The broker has already set the pickup, delivery, and travel time for the load, so all the driver needs to do is show up and get the shipment to its destination.

The brokerage will arrange the delivery with the receiving customer, and everyone involved can coordinate through the brokerage. If the freight carrier has a problem along the way, they do not come to you; they call the brokerage and get the issue resolved. This streamlines the process and it makes shipping freight easier for a small company that does not have the resources to deal with all the ins and outs of shipping.

Less Than Load Shipping

LTL or less than load shipping is another service that a brokerage can offer its clients. Essentially, LTL shipping is a way to move your freight if you do not have a full trailer load.

The brokerage you work with can find a truck that will be in your area and has the space on it for your freight. The carrier will pick up your cargo and put it on the trailer with the other freight they are carrying and deliver it to your customer for you. The trick is to get the truck going the right place at the right time, but a large transportation brokerage has the resources to organize loads like this.

The cost is lower because you are sharing the expenses of moving the freight with one or two other companies and can be a very effective way for small shipments to get to the customer.
